The unincorporated community of New Washoe City, NV, sits in the Washoe Valley between Reno and Carson City, on the east side of Washoe Lake. This planned community was founded in 1961 and houses a population today of roughly 3,000 people.
New Washoe City is named after the older nearby community of Washoe City, commonly known as Old Washoe City, which is centered around Little Washoe Lake on the far north end of Washoe Lake itself. New Washoe City was developed close to both lakes, as well as to Washoe Lake State Park and Scripps State Wildlife Management Area. Eastlake Boulevard connects New Washoe City to US 395 and I-580 for convenient access north to Reno and south to Carson City.
