Gardnerville, NV
The unincorporated town of Gardnerville, NV, is located south of Carson City in Douglas County, along US 395 next to Minden. Gardnerville houses a population of almost 6,000 people, spread across a land area of nearly five square miles.
The community was established in 1879 and named for John Gardner, a local cattleman. In its earliest years, Gardnerville became a feed stop for horseback teams traveling between Carson City and nearby mining camps. By the start of the 20th century, Gardnerville was a center of commerce and a hub of community activity in the Carson Valley. Several Basque inns flourished in Garnerville during Prohibition, and Basque dining remains a local culinary attraction to this day. A number of parks define the Gardnerville landscape, all close to the East Fork Carson River.
